Closing the Medicare Drug Coverage Gap

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a law that will be implemented over time. However, there are many components that have been implemented and we currently benefit from today. One of the components already in place includes discounted prescription drugs filled in the Medicare Part D coverage gap (donut hole). Under ACA, pharmaceutical manufactures provide a 50% discount on brand-names prescriptions. On average, Medicare beneficiaries saved $545.
